Prime Objectives
Location: Sohar Cement Factory – Sohar, Oman
Sohar Cement Factory is seeking a skilled and motivated Accounts Officer to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling daily accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, managing payables and receivables, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory regulations, and supporting financial reporting and audits. The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate books of accounts, including journal entries, ledgers, and reconciliations.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Manage petty cash transactions, ensuring proper documentation, authorization, and timely replenishment.
- Maintain petty cash records and perform regular reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Record and process vendor invoices, payments, and employee reimbursements.
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Handle banking transactions, including payments, deposits, and fund transfers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws (VAT, WHT, income tax, etc., as applicable).
- Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and MIS.
- Assist internal and external auditors by providing necessary documents and explanations.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Coordinate with departments, vendors, and auditors for financial matters.
- Support team and management with financial data and analysis as required.
- Follow and strengthen internal control procedures.
- Identify and report any discrepancies or financial risks.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualification
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Knowledge of ERP, SAP, MS-Excel, Accounting Standards & Principles
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Finance.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, accounting standards, ERP - finance modules.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and reporting skills.
